Davison stole the ball on a Maryland inbounds play with 12.4 seconds left, giving Wisconsin (11-6, 4-2 Big Ten) a chance for the victory.

Junior forward Nate Reuvers scored a team-high 17 points for the Badgers, and Davison and Micah Potter added 14 points each.

Sophomore forward Jalen Smith scored a game-high 18 points for the Terrapins (13-4, 3-3), who outrebounded the Badgers 35-24.

Cowan delivered 16 points and Aaron Wiggins added 13 for Maryland, which has lost back-to-back games.

Potter and Reuvers combined for 18 first-half points to give Wisconsin a 30-25 lead at the halftime break.

The Terps gained control when Smith and Cowan drilled back-to-back 3-pointers, and Maryland took its first lead of the second half at 35-32 with 14:41 left.

But the Badgers stayed close, and Davison and sophomore guard Kobe King hit consecutive baskets to give Wisconsin a 51-50 lead with 2:44 left.

Davison, who entered the game with an 8.7 points-per-game average, scored nine second-half points.

Potter, in a reserve role, shot 6 of 7 from the field in 13 minutes for Wisconsin, which shot 44.9 percent overall in the victory.
